Where Is the Honda Civic Made?

Honda Civic

Sporty and sleek, the Honda Civic certainly attracts attention wherever it goes. It’s not uncommon to see plenty of them on the road either, as they are a well-loved compact car. Plus, most of the modern models you see are produced in the United States. Clark Knapp Honda is giving you a closer look at the car’s rich history and where it comes from.

Initial Honda Civic Release

The Honda Civic was first introduced in Japan in 1972. It was offered as a two-door compact car and a three-door hatchback, which looked fairly similar, although they each had distinct cargo storage areas. The vehicle focused on efficiency, while still being fun to drive. It became available in the United States as a 1973 model.

Modifications Over the Years

There are 11 generations of the Honda Civic, with a handful of facelifts over the years, as well as new engines, models, and variants added. During its second generation, a wagon body style became available, and a coupe version debuted in 1993. In the spring of 2002, a hybrid version was introduced. It was discontinued in 2015, but it has returned for the 2025 model year.

Honda Civic Production

Initially, the Honda Civic was strictly manufactured in Japan, but its first North American plant was opened in Marysville, OH, in 1986. In fact, Honda was the first Japanese automaker to build engines and transmissions in the United States. Currently, there are 12 Honda Civic manufacturing plants across the country, as well as models being produced in Japan, Canada, and the UK.

When is the Best Time to Sell Your Car?

Moving on from your old vehicle involves asking a lot of questions, like “ When should I sell my car?” and “Should I replace it with a new or pre-owned model?” Feel free to ask anything that comes to mind, because we’ve got the answers! If you’re looking to sell your car, come talk to the pros at Clark Knapp Honda. more Time of Year Generally speaking, there are two types of timing to consider when you sell your car. The first is the best time of year to sell it, which tends to be either around tax season when people are using their tax refunds to purchase new and pre-owned vehicles, or during the summer when drivers are looking for reliable vehicles for their road trips, and college students shop for the car they’ll take to school in the fall. Age and Mileage The second type of timing is related to the vehicle’s life. If your vehicle is only a few years old and has low miles on it, you’ll likely get a generous offer if you sell it soon. Older cars that have a lot of miles on their odometers typically sell for less. In addition to their warranties being outdated, their age and the wear and tear they’ve endured will increase the next owners’ maintenance costs. Stop Asking “When Should I Sell My Car?” in Pharr, TX and Let Us Buy Your Old Vehicle! Of course, we can bring a third type of timing into the mix: when is the right time for you? If you’re shopping for your next set of wheels, or if you no longer need a vehicle, we’ll buy your old car. Drive it over to our Pharr, TX Honda dealership to get started!
